IMS presenting at EDI Con Online 2022

Join IMS at EDI Con Online 2022! Wes Laquerre, Application Engineering Manager at International Manufacturing Services (IMS), will present the Signal Integrity/Power Integrity Workshop. Title: Assessment of Thick & Thin Film Passive Monolithic SMT Resistor Elements in Handling Low Duty Cycle (LDC) Signal Conditions Date: Wednesday, October 05, 2022 Time: 4:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time Duration: 30 minutes Register Today A study of risks and factors designers must consider when selecting a resistor component which will be exposed to low duty cycle pulse (LDC) power. Mechanisms and techniques to compare or predict durability of a given selection of thick and thin film components against a projected LDC form is also discussed. In the past 10 years, requests for passive resistor elements have revealed a growing trend in application specific signal requirements. These requirements include: moderate to high power, LDC pulses with fast rise/fall times, pulse widths under 1uS, low average power, and pulse repetition frequencies (PRF) ranging from 1 Khz to 40 Khz. Applications generally associated with these types of signals include Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) drivers used for 3D imaging and object recognition, Low Duty Cycle (LDC) algorithms used for [...]

Modelithics® and International Manufacturing Services® (IMS) Release New Models for Attenuators and Resistors Tampa, Florida and Portsmouth, Rhode Island (January 31, 2019) – Modelithics and International Manufacturing Services (IMS) have completed the development of eight new broadband Microwave Global Models™ for IMS attenuator and resistor families. The models were developed through the Modelithics Vendor Partner (MVP) Program under a 6-year collaboration plan recently established between Modelithics and IMS. New models are now available for the following IMS components: RC3-0402PW, RC4-0302PW and NDX-1020EZW high frequency resistor families, A-0402WA-C/IMS2652 and A-0603-C/IMS2533 high frequency attenuator families, and the VDR-3725SG very high-power attenuator series. The VDR-3725 attenuator model is validated up to 2 GHz, while all other attenuator and resistor models are validated to 40 or 50 GHz. The new models are substrate scalable, pad scalable and part value scalable, with the exception of the 50-ohm single-value NDX-1020EZW resistor model. The models are available for use with multiple EDA tools*, including Keysight ADS, Keysight Genesys, NI AWR Design Environment/Microwave Office™, ANSYS® HFSS™, Sonnet® Suites™ and Cadence® Spectre® RF. (*Model availability may vary by simulator) IMS is a Sponsoring Modelithics Vendor Partner (MVP) and as part of this program, is sponsoring FREE 90-day trials of [...]

IMS Introduces Non-Magnetic Chip Resistors with Ultra Leach Resistant Terminals for MRI Applications

Portsmouth, Rhode Island, USA – International Manufacturing Services, Inc. (IMS), a leading manufacturer of high quality thick film resistors, terminations, attenuators, couplers, thermal management devices, planar dividers and planar filters to the electronics industry, has introduced a new type or chip resistor terminal which are non-magnetic and ultra leach resistant. The Ultra Leach Resistant (ULR) type terminals have been proven to maintain their integrity in the harshest solder environments, including high temperature and multiple reflows, withstanding up to 15 minutes at 260°C. The ULR metallization gives customers ultimate solder leach resistance without the need for ferro-resonant Nickel Barrier terminals. The leach resistance of ULR type terminals is far superior to Ni-Barrier at a lower cost than Copper Barrier components. These rugged terminals are available in RoHS and lead content versions on resistor sizes 0402 to 6227, values 1 to 1T and operating frequency to 40GHz. Chip resistors with ULR terminals are ideal for any application including but not limited to MRI Coils, NMR imaging and cryogenics. Since 1974, IMS has been supplying the electronics manufacturing industries with highest quality thick and thin film chip  resistors, terminations, attenuators, couplers, thermal management devices and other RF and Microwave components.
